The average superblock creation time was about 47h (median = 36h).
- I am not counting the to-come-superblock now, for which we wait already for 44h (K)

The current dev team definitely needs help,
... and it looks like the poll on the "32 million GRC expense" (poll title: Developer Reimbursement 6 Month Package, vote until July 29) will be ACK'd
- (and yes, I know that the term "32 million GRC expense" might cause disbehaviour in some, but I have not a satisfying answer on my question that it will NOT be 32 mio GRC, or whatever the highest limit may be)
Unfinished thoughts:
- What can be seen is that the 3.5.9.1 and 3.5.9.2 versions did not seem to fix the situation. And the current, long waiting time (46h) for the next superblock (K) seems to indicate 3.5.9.3 + 3.5.9.4 did not help either. We have to wait and see.
- Why didn't we have a mandatory version since over 3 months (last mandatory: April 2, version 3.5.8.8) ? (with the many SB fixes that came along (example); we've now in the 3.5.9.4 version also a checkpoint for block 950k). A mandatory version will require enough time preparation to make sure big players (like exchanges) get the info about it and also upgrade.
- Instead only 1 superblock everybody is waiting for, why not have 25 SBs? For each of the 25 whitelisted BOINC project. That surely will be faster + likely also fair
Further info:
- (J): superblock #967957 has landed (includes 84% of whitelisted BOINC projects) / new release: Gridcoin version 3.5.9.4 (not mandatory) / new release: Gridcoin version 3.5.9.3 (not mandatory)
- (I): Another magnitude zero event (3.5 days after last case)
- (H): greetings from our superblock: "Magnitude too low for POR reward."
- (G): Did we save the world yesterday? Maybe, perhaps, who knows...
- (F): We are waiting for you, oh SUPER-block... again
- (E): new release: Gridcoin version 3.5.9.2 (not mandatory)
- (D): new release: Gridcoin version 3.5.9.1
- (B): $GRC bounty -> help us create a superblock (no superblock for 99h)

ReplyDeleteabout the current superblock we currently wait on (K: which was at time of the article 44h):
me: 55h? welcome to another episode of the superblock !
user1: what episode are we erkan? :P
me: in the "shit, we still didn't do a mandatory" or "shit, the 3.5.9.4 still did not fix all SB probs" episode
user1: lol :(
me: as mentioned above, "The average superblock creation time was about 47h (median = 36h)", and 55h goes above that
me: looks like 50% of the SBs in the last 4 weeks were troublesome
me: if the table above doesn't ring alarm bells, I don't know what will

ReplyDeleteSo far these 3 BOINC projects were hit most from the "magnitude zero" effects:
Numberfields, Rosetta + SETI
